Good evening all!! Today is Day 20 of the Daniel Fast. By now you can see the end in the sight. You should be feeling good about how far you have come, where you started and where you are finishing. Maybe now you are even contemplating what your first meal is going to be after the fast. This is where caution is advised. You have been eating clean for 21 days. You tastes buds have changed and hopefully you have had little to no processed foods. All of this is great. But, when you come off of any type of fast, you do not want to shock the body. You have avoided sweets for 21 days – so when you have something with sugar in it, it is going to be really sweet. Your body will have a hard time digesting meat. After you eat your favorite foods, you may experience so bloating or even a headache. My recommendation is chose something light. Ease slowly back into the foods you used to enjoy. If you eat eggs, you may want to consider eating some scrambled eggs which are not as rich and are easier digested then a rich omelet. And maybe, just maybe, you will stick around and incorporate some of the new whole foods recipes that will be forthcoming.
My hope is that you have enjoyed the last 20 days with us. I hope that you tried some of the recipes that we posted and that you knew that you were never alone. But beyond our journey together, I pray that you encountered God during these last 20 days, that you have a greater sense of peace. If you attended in person or watched the Church of the Highlands service, then just like the Pastor said this am, I pray that you earnestly continue to seek the Lord. Continue to seek, pray, ask, listen, act and be still.
