Greetings and Salutations my friends! Welcome to Angie and a Ginger, we are glad that you stopped by.
This is my story, my life. This is about my journey of healing. My body may not be 100% cured at this time, but I am emotionally happy. I started this website to document my adventure of dealing with chronic diseases and healing taking place in my life. I am a follower of Christ, a prayer warrior, a wife, a business owner (check out our shop), an athlete, a loving mother to four fur babies and I love to cook!
I am Angie, nice to meet you. The hubby – he is the Ginger. He is my best friend, my partner in adventure and my soul mate. It took awhile for us to find each other, but it was a gift worth waiting for, and God’s timing is ever faithful.
I am now also gluten and dairy free. I follow a plant-based whole foods diet with minimally processed foods – sometimes in a pinch it happens though– but as you will see, the Ginger – is a southern boy at heart – and he still eats meat. Here at Angie and a Ginger, you will find a good mix – with most recipes being plant-based – but, I do have to keep my hubby happy – so some will contain meat – but will be much healthier and always gluten and dairy free.
Now for the moment of truth. I have been diagnosed with multiple chronic diseases and auto immune diseases. I have been told that I am an asthmatic, have severe environmental, food and chemical allergies, Raynaud’s syndrome and common variable immune deficiency or CVID. CVID is a primary deficiency in my white blood cells that makes me more prone to infections – and throughout my life time, that meant – recurring strep throat (even after my tonsils were removed), bronchitis, pneumonia, sinus infections and more. My journey took me through and to numerous doctors, years of antibiotics, asking a ton of questions and seeking answers on my own.
Over the years, I have formed a relationship with God and my faith in God has grown. I have tried different methods for healing including acupuncture, hot yoga, Qigong, allergy shots, essential oils, affirmations and more. Later I will discuss these experiences with these treatments and give my personal opinion and experiences on them. I do believe that you do have to think “outside the box” from conventional medicine at times and that the right or needed people (teachers) and experiences will be presented when we are truly willing and open to listen.
These experiences have taught me so much about me, my body, my thoughts and that we do have the power to heal. That sometimes, it isn’t just one thing, but it is a combination of a lot of things, but that the most important aspect has been my diet. Eating this way has allowed me to take control of my illnesses, stopping the constant infections and antibiotic cycles, restoring my energy and giving me a life that I enjoy. It really has healed me and I have gone from being on 20 pills a day – down to one treatment a month. I have learned that I am a fighter; I have always had determination and stubbornness to get me through to the next day or my next adventure, even when I have been told by doctors – I can not or should not do “X”.
Where does that leave me now, well, by making changes, lots of trial and errors. I can say that I am stronger, I am healthier. I have more energy, I am happier and I am creating the lifestyle that I have always dreamed of as a kid. I hardly ever take antibiotics now nor do I get as sick as often. It has not been easy at times, in fact, sometimes I have had to take a few steps back to move one step closer to my goals.
My goal, my hope, is that I can encourage you to strive to be a little healthier. Empowering you to take charge of your health, your life. To ask questions and seek your own answers. To see faith through my eyes while I share recipes, my fur babies and my crazy and fun adventures. I want to show you that good healthy food – can be delicious. That everything here will nurture and love your body, leaving you feeling incredible. This way of eating is absolutely not about deprivation and starvation but it’s more about embracing a positive, healthy way of life. I’ve learned more on this health adventure than I could possibly have imagine too and I really want to share that information with you. It is turning something negative into something positive. If I can help anyone that is struggling or has struggled with health or even life issues, then I will consider this a success.
Now sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.
Until next time sweeties, may you be blessed. Hugs and Love, Angie
